Joseph Isaac "Ike" Clanton

?, 1847 - June 1, 1887

Born in Callaway County, Missouri to Newman Hayes "Old Man" and Maria Sexton Clanton. Ike worked on his father's cattle ranch at Lewis Springs near Tombstone, Arizona. He also is known to have run a lunch counter at the Tombstone Mill - now called Millville. There he and the other ranch hands were locally known as "The Cowboys," and had a reputation for unruliness. Ike is best known for his participation in the Gunfight at OK Corral along with his brother Billy, and the McLaury Brothers Frank and Tom, and Billy Claiborne against the Earp brothers Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan, and Doc Holliday. Ike survived the gunfight only to be killed in another gunfight by Detective Jonas V. Brighton for cattle rustling. Ike is thought to be buried where he was killed on Eagle Creek in Greenlee County, Arizona.
